Hapag-Lloyd opens Quality Service Center in Mauritius - 9 January 2020

Hapag-Lloyd, the fifth largest container shipping line in the world by market share, has announced it will look to grow and develop its presence in Africa with a new Quality Service Center (QSC) in Mauritius.

In a statement, Hapag-Lloyd said QSC’s “gather four selected functions from different areas under one roof, enabling synergies and delivering on the quality promises towards customers.”

QSCs are an important part of Hapag-Lloyd’s Strategy 2023, a mid-term initiative which aims to turn it into a more agile, dynamic and analytically-driven company.

Hapag-Lloyd already has several established QSCs around the world, in the US, China, Malaysia, India, Colombia, Chile and Brazil.

The QSC in Mauritius will help Hapag-Lloyd develop expand in Africa and the Middle East, two of its fastest growing markets.

Speaking about the decision to open the QSC in Mauritius, Dheeraj Bhatia, Senior Managing Director Region Middle East, said the island was chosen it “provides a modern infrastructure, a skilled workforce, as well as a unique mix of spoken languages, especially English and French.

“This will enable us to serve our customers in their native languages.”
