Hapag-Lloyd to Re-Use Containers in UK - 19 October 2017

Hapag-Lloyd has agreed to offer Avantida reUse container management services for its truckers and transporters in the UK.

Avantida’s platform allows digital permissions for re-use of import containers for export shipments for the same shipping company.

Rather than bringing back an empty container to the port or assigned depot, transport companies can instead request permission to bring it straight to export customers to get loaded, saving time and fuel.

Using the Avantida portal will allow Hapag Lloyd and its truckers to better control and manage its equipment stock.

Luc De Clerck, CEO at Avantida, said: "As part of the ocean lines continuous efforts to improve their services and align with their corporate policies, Hapag-Lloyd in the UK has joined 13 European ocean lines that have already adopted the Avantida platform, which streamlines all requests with regard to container re-use and drop-off or pick-up changes.”

"Expanding into the UK is a natural next step for Avantida as we continue to build upon our success in mainland Europe, where we just registered our 450,000 approved re-use on the platform."

Andrew Allen, Operations Director, Hapag-Lloyd (UK) said: "'Avantida allows us to manage our container re-use requests in an improved and efficient way, and provides our hauliers with a platform that simplifies the request process, and speeds up response times.”
